The Rumson Boat Race was founded to support the blossoming rowing culture in our community and to provide funding for Rumson-Fair Haven student athletes.  ​

 The Rumson Boat Race is an invitational and the first race of the Fall season for each of the crews.  Most Fall races are "head races" or "processionals," wherein teams row against the clock, leaving the starting gate every 15 seconds.  In the Rumson Boat Race, crews race side by side in "sprint" fashion on an open water course and is approximately 2500 meters from start to finish.

This collegiate boat race features the Varsity and second varsity crews from Army West Point, Drexel University, Rutgers University, Villanova
