About

Our Mission

RFH Rowing Boosters Club/Rumson Boat Race is a nonprofit 501c3 organization,
dedicated to youth rowing in the Rumson and Fair Haven communities.

The Boosters objective is to ensure the rowing program's longterm viability by developing
sustainable financial support mechanisms to support the capital improvements and annual operating budget.

Our Story

RFH Rowing is a four season sport.  The head coach of the rowing program is the primary administrator with support from the Rumson Recreation Department, the Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School and the RFH Rowing Booster Club.

Rumson Recreation provides equipment and rowing site support, RFH High School allows the high school athletes to compete scholastically in the spring and the Boosters provides financial support for capital purchases and ancillary team duties.
Together, these organizations enables athletes to train year round and equipment to be purchased and maintained.

Though there are regatta's in the fall, the focus on the summer, fall and winter seasons is on training, development and conditioning,
in preparation for the "official season" which is the spring.

The Coaches

RFH Rowing Coaching Staff words to row by:
Perhaps the seeds of redemption lay not just in perseverance, hard work, and rugged individualism. Perhaps they lay in something more fundamental—the simple notion of everyone pitching in and pulling together.

Dan Edward - Founder of RFH Rowing

After many years of building the RFH Rowing Program involving indescribable effort and determination, Coach Dan Edwards retired in 2019.  The statement "Coach Edwards shaped RFH Rowing" is a vast understatement. Thank you from the many athletes, coaches and parents for building this incredible opportunity for the youth in the Rumson-Fair Haven towns.

Andrew joined the coaching staff in 2014 as strength and conditioning specialist. After one season he was hooked. Subsequently Coach Hudson has honed his skills both in the programming and technique side.

He believes a foundation of proper nutrition, proper application and development of strength, and a steadfast work ethic can greatly improve the performance of junior rowers. Coach Hudson is also a certified level two rowing coach having attending the US Rowing clinic in August 2016.

When he is not coaching Andrew keeps his eye on the athletes as a full time RFH biology teacher.
